Wentworth Conservation Area

This is one of a couple of places in Amherst where I can reliably find Orchard Orioles. This is a lovely bird with its strikingly combination of rust and black coloration. It is much less common here than the Baltimore Oriole.

And here is a female Baltimore Oriole with a tasty morsel.

And then there was a busy Kingbird flying around. It looks like it has dipped its tail in a bucket of white paint!

At the Flicker nest, the male is super active and this time almost knocked the pigeon off her branch.

That particular dove likes to hang out on this dead tree where the Flickers have their nest. One might think she would be getting used to the commotion. Here she is coming in for a landing a couple of nights ago. What a great tail in flight!
