Honey Pot in Hadley

Blue Grosbeaks, Mockingbirds, Brown Thrashers, and a host of smaller birds.

I’ve gone over there a couple of days and spotted the Blue Grosbeaks. She was busy gathering material for the nest and he was checking in now and then to see how she was doing. No good pictures of him yet, but I’ve included one from last year to show what the excitement is all about. He is beautiful but she is more fun to watch.

The Brown Thrashers were also very active this week. Here is one right around where the Grosbeaks were nesting. Gotta love that yellow eye!

The Mockingbird is striking in flight and an absolute riot of sound when he gets going with his myriad of calls. This one was a little over-exuberant with his landing and kind of crashed into the tree. I’m sorry that there was only a very blurry shot of the actual landing. It was quite funny!
