Hudson, NY, Aug. 15

After a wonderful breakfast visit with my dear friend, Barbara Govatos, I went to a lovely nature preserve where I saw a million Goldfinches, several Ospreys and Vultures soaring high up in the sky, and all sorts of smaller flora and fauna. Most fun for me was photographing the swallowtail fluttering about. Check out how ragged the poor butterfly’s wings are. I almost never see a swallowtail in pristine condition. And check out the crown on that cardinal!

I stopped, briefly, to talk to people twice. Both times they came quite close and when I asked them about their vaccination status – both were not. I asked the second guy why not and he said, after seeing what is happening in the south,he had finally made an appointment for this week to get his shot. So maybe this will help wake people up after all.

A sampling of the midday walk.
